Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks (VANETs) are an important component of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) because they support communication between vehicles and roadside infrastructure. Traditional IEEE 802.11p communication suffers from packet collision, increased latency, channel congestion, and reduced throughput in dense traffic environments. This work proposes a Hybrid MAC protocol integrating CSMA/CA and Slotted ALOHA with collision avoidance techniques. RStudio analytical evaluation using a 2D Markov Chain model is used to analyze throughput, collision probability, packet delivery ratio, and communication latency.
