Despite many recent advances for the design of dialogue systems, a true bottleneck remains the acquisition of data required to train its components. Unlike many other language processing applications, dialogue systems require interactions with users, therefore it is complex to develop them with pre-recorded data. Building on previous works, on-line learning is pursued here as a most convenient way to address the issue. Data collection, annotation and use in learning algorithms are performed in a single process.

We address the problem of search-free DOA estimation from a single noisy snapshot for sensor arrays of arbitrary geometry, by extending a method of gridless super-resolution beam-forming to arbitrary arrays with noisy measurements. The primal atomic norm minimization problem is converted to a dual problem in which the periodic dual function is represented with a trigonometric polynomial using truncated Fourier series. The number of terms required for accurate representation depends linearly on the distance of the farthest sensor from a reference.

Tensor decomposition is a powerful tool for analyzing multiway data. Nowadays, with the fast development of multisensor technology, more and more data appear in higher-order (order >= 4) and nonnegative form. However, the decomposition of higher-order nonnegative tensor suffers from poor convergence and low speed. In this study, we propose a new nonnegative CANDECOM/PARAFAC (NCP) model using proximal algorithm. The block principal pivoting method in alternating nonnegative least squares (ANLS) framework is employed to minimize the objective function.

In this paper, a Bayesian-optimized bidirectional Long Short -Term Memory (LSTM) method for energy disaggregation, is introduced. Energy disaggregation, or Non-Intrusive Load Monitoring (NILM), is a process aiming to identify the individual contribution of appliances in the aggregate electricity load. The proposed model, Bayes-BiLSTM, is structured in a modular way to address multi-dimensionality issues that arise when the number of appliances increase.

In this paper, we explore several new schemes to train a seq2seq model to integrate a pre-trained language model (LM). Our proposed fusion methods focus on the memory cell state and the hidden state in the seq2seq decoder long short-term memory (LSTM), and the memory cell state is updated by the LM unlike the prior studies. This means the memory retained by the main seq2seq would be adjusted by the external LM.

Increasingly, post-secondary instructors are incorporating innovative teaching practices into their classrooms to improve student learning outcomes. In order to assess the effect of these techniques, it is helpful to quantify the types of activity being conducted in the classroom. Unfortunately, self-reporting is unreliable and manual annotation is tedious and scales poorly.
